Messages from the Clouds is inspired by a photo book “Words in the Sky” of a Japanese photographer Mr. Habu, which I bought it in Ikebukuro.

 

In the piece, I emphasize the percussive character of piano by using some snare drum patterns in the playing. And the subtle changes of the patterns depict the unpredictable movements of the clouds. The performer’s interpretation on the accents, rhythms and colour changes is crucial. By the details of the music, I want to bring out the space of imagination, and to express the feeling of boundless and freedom.
